Gap Wireless to stage drone demo at Wireless trade show

Gap Wireless, a distributor of products and services for the mobile broadband and wireless markets, will be providing a drone demonstration at the Canadian Wireless Trade Show this week on October 26-27 at the Toronto Congress Centre.

The demo will be managed by Paul Baur, UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) product line manager at Gap Wireless and a member of the Team Canada Drone Team.

“Gap Wireless has recently added UAV Solutions to our product portfolio, supplying businesses with drones and UAV software for commercial applications as well as supporting their regulatory and insurance needs,” says Glenn Poulos, vice-president and general manager at Gap Wireless.

As a speaker at the Canadian Wireless Trade Show, Baur will highlight why hiring a pilot is not enough to ensure successful drone deployment. Drones are increasingly being used in commercial applications such as integrity status checks for bridges, towers and pipelines. Gap Wireless will showcase drones and software from leading UAV vendors DJI, Sensefly, Sensofusion, Sentera, and Skyward.

In addition to UAV solutions, Gap Wireless will display an extensive range of products and solutions that span wireless infrastructure, distributed antenna systems (DAS) and test & measurement at its booth just inside the Canadian Wireless Trade Show exhibit hall entrance. Gap Wireless will also showcase a Non-Line-Of-Site (NLOS) link outside the Congress Centre to demonstrate technology from its vendor partner Tarana Wireless. Tarana’s solution is capable of establishing reliable links up to 600 megabits per second, providing an alternative to expensive last-mile fibre.

A second Gap Wireless speaker, Marc Landry, product line manager & director of sales, wireless infrastructure, will round out the program with a presentation on ‘Integration of Public Safety and Commercial Wireless DAS Systems’.
