Distributor jumps in with expanded portfolio of unmanned aerial vehicle solutions

Gap Wireless, a leading distributor of products and services for the mobile broadband and wireless markets, has become a premier provider of UAV (drone) solutions for carriers and enterprises in Canada and the U.S.  With products represented from leading UAV vendors like DJI Enterprise and FLIR, Gap Wireless supplies UAV products and solutions spanning aircraft, cameras & sensors, software, regulatory/training solutions and drone defence.

“The rapid growth in enterprise use of drones including both private and public sector organizations has required ramping up our suite of UAV solutions,” said Glenn Poulos, vice president and general manager at Gap Wireless. “The driving force is the competitive advantage to be gained by using drones for inspection purposes where time, money and safety are a factor.”

Drones have been put to work in many sectors including infrastructure inspection, construction, mining, agriculture, and public safety. Using drones can reduce manpower requirements ‘on the ground’, mitigate risk and increase accessibility to remote or challenging areas, and increase success rates for search and rescue missions.

The world’s largest drone manufacturer DJI recently introduced the DJI Matrice 200 (M200) series specifically designed for enterprise use, and Gap Wireless is taking pre-orders for the drones. Among their many features, these drones have advanced sensors and the option of an upward-facing gimbal mount to enable inspection of bridges, towers and other structures from below as well as above.

Gap Wireless also stocks solutions from FLIR, a global leader in design and production of thermal imaging cameras. The FLIR Duo is a compact, lightweight, dual-sensor thermal and visible light imager designed for drones which is the same size and shape as the most popular action cameras but features advanced capabilities for on-board recording, real-time remote control and calibrated temperature measurements in every pixel. DJI and FLIR are just two of the vendor partners in the extensive Gap Wireless UAV line-up.

“The sky really is the limit when it comes to innovation in the UAV market, and we intend to continue keeping pace with latest vendor offerings to meet enterprise requirements,” said Poulos.
