Clamshell spring pin socket for SAW filter boosts electrical performance

IRONWOOD ELECTRONICS CBT-LGA-5017 LGA socket addresses high performance requirements for custom pitch devices. Contactor is a stamped spring pin with 14.5 gram actuation force per pin and cycle life of 100,000 insertions. Device’s self inductance is 0.98 nH, insertion loss of < 1 dB at 31.7 GHz and capacitance 0.067pF. The current capacity of each device is 4 amps. Socket temperature range is -55C to +180C. Socket also features an IC guide for precise LGA edge alignment. The specific configuration of the package to be tested in the CBT-LGA-5017 is LGA, 3x3mm body size and 0.86mm pitch.
