Apple co-founder delivers dissertation at talent arena during MWC25 in Barcelona

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak took centre stage on the second day of Talent Arena, the digital talent event organized by Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. In one of the most anticipated sessions of the program, Wozniak shared insights on the evolving technology landscape, touching on artificial intelligence (AI), open-source development, and his own journey from Apple’s early days to his latest ventures in space exploration.

Wozniak addressed the growing debate around AI regulation, reinforcing his long-standing belief in oversight and transparency. “To better judge what we consume, we must know whether the information comes from technology, how the AI has been trained, and what sources it has used,” he stated. He acknowledged AI’s current capabilities in synthesizing existing knowledge but suggested that its ability to independently think remains a future prospect.

Speaking on the broader evolution of technology, Wozniak emphasized the need for more open-source development. “More open-source code would allow us to go back, review the technology created, and perhaps improve it,” he argued.
