TCO devices boost current capacity in small package

BOURNS SC series of miniature Thermal Cutoff (TCO) devices are lighter, smaller and offer high current capacity up to 13A at 25°C. Product family matches the small space and over-temperature protection needs in next-generation Lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery cells and USB 3.1 Type C cables. Product series is 38% smaller than firm’s SA series, yet has the same high current handling capacity. Devices are available in two options: the SCxxAAA which features a reinforced cover improving resistance to injection molding forces applied during USB cable manufacturing. The SCxxAAB series is thinner at 0.94 mm, making it suitable for smartphone applications.
