Fully integrated proximity sensors increase efficiency

VISHAY SEMICONDUCTORS VCNL36821S and VCNL36826S fully integrated proximity sensors increase efficiency and performance in consumer and industrial applications, while providing an IR emitter and a vertical cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL), respectively. Devices combine a photodiode, signal processing IC and 12-bit ADC in a compact 2.55mm by 2.05mm by 1.0mm surface-mount package. The smaller packages at lower cost are suitable for space-constrained battery-powered applications. Devices come with ranges to 300mm and also provide collision detection in toys and consumer/industrial robots. Components feature low power consumption down to 6µA to increase efficiency in these applications.
