Automotive image sensor boosts low-light, RGB-IR performance

OMNIVISION TECHNOLOGIES OX03A2S 2.5 megapixel image sensor includes Nyxel near-infrared (NIR) technology suitable for designs in the automotive market. The ASIL-B sensor is suitable for exterior imaging applications that operate in low to no ambient light conditions within two-meters of the vehicle. Nyxel technology uses novel silicon semiconductor architectures and processes to achieve high level automotive quantum efficiency of 40% at the 940nm NIR wavelength. This enables device to detect and recognize objects that other image sensors would miss under extremely low lighting conditions, enabling more capable safety systems.
