Global electronic component distributor Digi-Key Electronics Corp. will carry select devices from discrete semiconductor maker Central Semiconductor Corp., Hauppauge NY, in bare die form for space-restricted prototypes in the wearables, handheld devices and gaming markets, as well as other package-free requirements.

Bare die is often the only option for certain space restricted designs. Central Semi designs and manufactures transistors, diodes, rectifiers, MOSFETs and transient voltage protection products.

“Bare die product requests are steadily growing in popularity,” says David Stein, vice-president for global semiconductor product at Digi-Key. “We are pleased to expand our partnership with Central Semiconductor to offer our customers this new option. Central’s high-quality, reliable product lines give us yet another high value option in meeting the needs of today’s design engineer.”

Digi-Key’s hybrid distribution model provides a suitable channel for Central Semi’s die products range. The wide variety of customer types served by Digi-Key, whether engineers prototyping a new product, or OEM customers looking to source legacy product, is a perfect fit with Central’s extensive product portfolio range.
