Conductive inks underpin printed electronics. While flake-based silver inks are well established technology used in applications ranging from solar panels to pressure sensors, there is extensive innovation within the conductive ink space. These new approaches to printable conductive materials generally aim to solve one (or both) of the following problems:

  • Reducing the price of a printed circuit by either using less silver or replacing the silver with another material (typically copper)
  • Tailoring the properties of the conductive ink to meet the requirements of specific applications. Examples include stretchability for e-textiles or high frequency conductivity for EMI shielding

With printed electronics gaining commercial traction across sectors ranging from heath/wellness/fitness monitoring to automotive interiors, there are growing opportunities for conductive ink manufacturers large and small to provide differentiated inks with the functionalities desired for each application area.

This webinar includes:

  • Discussion of the different types of conductive ink, particularly focussing on copper and particle-free inks
  • Evaluation of ink requirements for emerging applications, especially those that require differentiated ink properties, including identification of technological gaps
  • Examples of projects using conductive inks with distinctive properties
  • Overview of forecast market trends for conductive inks

Presenter: Dr Matthew Dyson – Senior Technology Analyst, IDTechEx
