APAG CoSyst Electronic Control Systems, a Swiss-based electronics design and manufacturing company serving the automotive and automation industries has established a beachhead in Canada with the official opening of its manufacturing facility in Windsor ON recently.

With specific focus on high-end automotive brands including Audi, BMW, VW, Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce and Bentley, the firm’s primary product types are electronic control units (ECUs) for luxury applications and special vehicles and intelligent LED units for interior lighting. APAG Cosyst generally works directly with the OEM and a complementary supplier during the design phase and then supplies finished products as a tier 2 supplier.

First ever North American production facility

Currently boasting 17 employees, the firm has plans to grow that number to more than 135 skilled positions over the next five years. Representing APAG’s first ever North American production facility, the Windsor site is located at 3505 Rhodes Dr. According to the company, its goal is not only the manufacture of auto parts, but also research and development, hardware and software design and innovations in lighting.

APAG has received a FedDev Ontario contribution of more than more than $4-million to help establish the new Windsor facility – helping the firm to install state-of-the-art equipment and complete renovations to the 32,000-square-foot footprint. APAG estimates 95% of its product is exported to the U.S. and Mexico.
