National Technical Systems Inc., Calabasas CA, an independent provider of qualification testing, inspection and certification solutions has acquired Fiarex of Chambly QC and CEM of Boucherville QC. Financial details of the acquisitions were not disclosed.

Fiarex specializes in dynamic and environmental testing, while CEM specializes in electromagnetic compatibility and interference testing (EMC and EMI).  Both companies serve a number of market leading customers in the aerospace, defense, automotive, rail, consumer, and other industries.

The Chambly facility offers dynamic and other mechanical testing as well as a number of environmental tests, including ingress protection testing and reliability services, such as HALT. The Boucherville lab provides emissions and immunity testing to FCC, EN, IEC and RTCA-DO160 standards, and both facilities are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA).

Jean-Pierre Rioux, President of Fiarex and CEM, stated, “Our management and staff are enthusiastic about our partnership with NTS as it will allow us to provide our expanding customer base a much broader scope of test and inspection capabilities throughout both the Quebec region and broader Canada.”

“We are excited to have two facilities in Canada from which to service our Canadian clients,” noted Vicki Panhuise, CEO of NTS. “NTS looks forward to continuing to provide the local access, cutting-edge capabilities and ease of doing business that Fiarex and CEM customers have come to know, and we look forward to expanding the testing services available at our new Canadian locations.”
