China-Ontario incubator proves to be successful

Ten more Ontario start-ups have joined the ranks of a successful first-to-market incubator for companies looking to make the most of opportunities in China thanks to a partnership between Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) and the China Canada Angels Alliance (CCAA).

Last year, 10 investment-ready companies made up the inaugural cohort of the China Angels Mentorship Program (CAMP).  Those first 10 companies have already generated close to $6 million in follow-on investments including $1.6 from CCAA.

This year’s cohort of ten companies is comprised of: Stack Fintech Inc., Cyclica Inc., Mosaic Manufacturing Ltd., Law Scout Inc., Cryptiv Inc., Sage Senses Inc., Suncayr Inc., Directive Communication System Inc., TritonWear Inc., and Industry Corporation.

Results from the first year of the incubator have been phenomenal

“The results from the first year of the incubator have been phenomenal,” said Dr. Tom Corr, President and CEO of OCE.  “We are very optimistic that the companies in this year’s cohort will meet with similar exceptional results and make the most of the incredible opportunities that exist in the Chinese market.”

Principals from the 10 companies selected will travel to China to work with Chinese investors as well as mentors from both Canada and China.

Mr. Zhishuo (Peter) Liu, Founder and President of CCAA said from Bejiing the program literally brings everyone to the table that needs to be there.  “We’ve got entrepreneurs, mentors and investors all talking to each other which is what doing business is really all about.”
