Allied Electronics, Fort Worth TX, are supporting the FIRST Robotics Competition with a donation of 26 individual products, totaling 434,000 pieces – including diodes, LEDs, resistors, capacitors, fuses, and more – that will be used by contestants as they strive to build a robot to perform prescribed tasks.

“Allied is committed to supporting First’s efforts,” says Kenneth Bradley, Allied vice-president of supply chain, “We’re happy to contribute to the program’s success. The contestants in this competition are the innovators and creators of tomorrow’s technology and Allied is proud to play a small role in helping them move closer to making their dreams reality.”

The competition challenges students to not only build a working robot, but to develop a team “brand” and utilize teamwork skills. Winners of the competition will qualify for more than $20-million in US college scholarships.

The contest is being held this week (April 22-25) at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.
