Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas aims to bring cellular connectivity to devices through its distribution agreement with global manufacturer of wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) communications modules, Quectel Wireless Solutions.

Avnet will now offer Quectel’s line of cellular communications solutions and GPS modules to customers in the Americas. Quectel is a leading global supplier of GSM/GPRS, UMTS/HSPA/LTE and GNSS modules for markets including automotive, smart metering, wireless POS and security. The company’s cellular modules allow remote devices to access the Internet or Cloud. Key features of the company’s products are small form factor, low power consumption, ease of integration, long-term availability and suitability for harsh environments.

“The three most dreaded words in the M2M connectivity world are ‘out of range,’” says Alex Iuorio, senior vice-president, supplier management and business development for Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. “Bringing Quectel’s innovative cellular modules to customers in the Americas will enable Avnet to support growing demand for sophisticated wireless devices, including advancing M2M and Internet of Things applications, and excise these words from the M2M user’s lexicon.”

“Working with Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas is a significant step for Quectel in its effort to better serve the Americas market,” adds Patrick Qian, CEO of Quectel Wireless Solutions. “Avnet is ideally positioned to service the large and growing market of M2M solution providers as well as companies adding Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities to their products. Quectel is confident that this is the right partnership to help build on its already strong reputation as a leading M2M module supplier in the Americas.”
