Efficient white organic light-emitting diode
Staff
Electronics CELBASF and OSRAM Opto Semiconductors have announced a jointly developed efficient white organic light-emitting diode (OLED). The OLEDs contain phosphorescent metal complexes as emitter and complementary materials, making the diodes colour-stable despite variations in intensity. OLEDs also do not heat up while emitting light, making them more efficient.
The OLEDs have a light yield of over 60 lumens per watt (lm/W) and also meet the international Energy Star SSL Standard with regard to color requirements, which means the light stays white at different levels of intensity.
