Security solutions provider Mirtech International Security Inc., Concord ON, has been awarded the contract to design, supply, install and commission a Firetide wireless mesh based, video surveillance system; to be installed on the streets of Orillia, Ontario.

The system will assist the police force and the City in providing better protection to the people and business owners of the city in the downtown core. The project will allow city officials and the police force to access pertinent information via a secured network housed within the Ontario Provincial Police substation, and also allow them to control PTZ cameras through a licensed wireless network. The first phase of this project has 4 locations that are transmitting back to one location, with the plan to have up to 60 cameras throughout the city in the years ahead.

Mirtech will provide a Firetide secured wireless mesh network, install fixed and PTZ cameras on existing street lights, and specified poles on the main street in the City, then network the system through a secured server housed within the police force substation. Due to the nature of the installation the client will be supplied with a separate secure network to be running parallel to the existing network and provide the future ability for mobile police units to access the system in real time from their police cruisers.

Mirtech is a certified, authorized dealer for Firetide in the Province of Ontario.
