CPEIA partners with Alberta Council of Technologies

The Canadian Printable Electronics Industry Association and The Alberta Council of Technologies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop Alberta’s printable and flexible electronics industry and boost the regional diversification of Canada’s knowledge-based economy.

ABCtech is a ‘network of networks’ that advocates on behalf of Alberta’s technology-based enterprises, entrepreneurs and industries for the creation of wealth in Alberta. It focuses on the commercialization of disruptive technologies that will place Alberta and Alberta companies at the forefront of emerging economies, to wean the province’s economic fortunes from their dependence on natural resources.

Dialogue on emerging technologies and their impact on society

Through the creation of cross-discipline and cross-industry dialogue on emerging technologies and their impact on society, ABCtech germinates unique opportunities for collaboration amongst stakeholders who may otherwise not interact. ABCtech achieves this through a series of carefully constructed and executed events.

“ABCtech’s mandate is very much in accord with the CPEIA’s approach to building the industry ecosystem required to drive the commercialization and end-user adoption of emerging technologies,” says CPEIA president and CEO Peter Kallai. “To grow Canada’s capability and market opportunity in printable and flexible electronics, it’s critical for us to partner with regional agencies across Canada that support established and emerging technology sectors.”

Analytics, big data and machine learning

“Alberta wants to, needs to and is diversifying its economy,” says Perry Kinkaide, founder and past president of ABCtech. “Analytics, big data and machine learning are the foundation of the new economy and technology areas that can benefit from the application of printable and flexible electronics. This partnership will help those that can benefit from printable and flexible electronics in our province get the recognition and support they need to take advantage of these market opportunities.”

The MoU is a non-financial commitment between the two organizations to collaborate on a number of initiatives on an ongoing basis. These include participation in technical working groups and educational events such as webinars, technical seminars and conferences.
