{mosimage}MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. announced it has signed a contract with the U.S. Air Force (USAF) Eagle Vision Program.

MDA
will upgrade its mobile ground system software, to allow it to receive
and process imagery from the constellation of RapidEye satellites. MDA’s
solution allows the USAF to provide near real-time in-theatre access to
essential image data, on a daily basis, in support of the warfighter.

The
addition of the RapidEye capability expands MDA’s existing multi-sensor
offering to the USAF that includes data access from the RADARSAT-2
satellite since May 2009.

RapidEye
is a constellation of five light weight Earth Observation small
satellites that has the capacity to image any point on the Earth on any
given day, providing RapidEye the ability to frequently monitor changes
at any location of interest around the world.

Eagle
Vision is the U.S. Department of Defense’s only deployable commercial
ground station capable of directly receiving and processing critical
imagery information from commercial remote sensing satellites directly
for the warfighter in-theatre. Eagle Vision also supports homeland
disaster relief missions.
