Markham Ontario's Weidmuller has announced a new and innovative Heat Trace Connector for use in oil industry and process applications.

Designed for the harsh outdoor environments and conditions around oil pipelines and refineries, Weidmuller’s Heat Trace Connector provides an electrically and environmentally reliable method to interconnect oil pipeline heat trace pipes, and a substantial savings in time and cost over the traditional junction box method of connections.

Weidmuller’s Heat Trace Connectors are designed for easy one-man installation, onsite, under all types of conditions. The coaxial design allows for complete 360° connection and eliminates alignment or rotational issues during installation. A lever locking mechanism located on the connector exterior guarantees a secure fit as well as superior holding power. The innovative coil spring contact provides for a highly reliable connection, and reduces the chance of contact destruction if the connector is disconnected while under load. The only tool needed to install Weidmuller’s Heat Trace Connectors is a standard flat blade screwdriver.

These new connectors are available in a two-pole version with an integrated ground, and are rated at 35A, 600 VAC. The robust housing is made from a lightweight aluminum alloy with a protective tin-plating. These new connectors are IP67 rated and have Class 1 Division 2 and CSA approvals.
