Telesat Acquires U.S. Satellite Firm

Electronics CELOTTAWA (CNW) ? Telesat has acquired California-based The SpaceConnection Inc., a provider of programming-related satellite transmission services to major U.S. television networks and cable programmers. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
SpaceConnection provides C-Band and Ku-Band space segment worldwide for video, audio, data and Internet services. Its clients include major television networks, cable programmers and services to the educational, religious, government, business and entertainment sectors.
Telesat intends to operate the company as an independent subsidiary with no change to its customers, employees and vendor relationships.
